YEAR INFORMATION
1981 The Scalextric rally range has been carefully selected to include all the variety of real motor racing. The true life versions of these models can be seen participating in major events all over the world. Included within such events are endurance races e.g. Le Mans, Production Saloon Car Races, Touring Car Races and World Rally Championships.
Generally speaking rallying cars can be classified within one of five groups depending on the type of car and/or what modifications have subsequently taken place. The cars are classified in order to provide fair competition within each group.
In one of these groups, and racing in the RAC British Sallon Car Championships a new contender during 1980 arose in the form of the Rover 3500. This new model from Scalextric has been seen in events throughout the country competing against Ford Capris, BMW's and other similar high performance saloon cars. Hold your own saloon car championship and see just how fast this new model really is.
1982 The Rover 3500 made its debut in the 1980 racing season and appears here in the colours of its sponsors for that first season Triplex, Motor Magazine and Esso.
With the British Saloon Car Championship regulations for 1980 permitting a class for engine capacities including 3½ Litres BL cars raced a two car team of Rover 3500's sponsored by Triplex. Motor Magazine and Esso. The car during its first season won two races outright. With 22 starts the Rover had a finishing record of 73%. The Scalextric model of this car includes chrome effect wheels, separate wing mirrors and detailed body lines which will make it an excellent addition to any collection.
1983 The Patrick Motors Group Rover is on important contender in the Tricentrol RAC British Saloon Car Championships (Group 1). Throughout the past two seasons PMG have been competing with the works racing Rovers. These Scalextric models feature chrome effect wheels, separate wing mirrors and highly detailed liveries.
