The Unipart Challenge, open to Metro entries only, featured 15 races and there were at least 25 cars starting at each round. The regulations clearly stated that the basic Metro bodywork and mechanicals were to be retained. Reaching speeds about 120 mph down some fast straights great demands were placed on both the driver's and mechanic's skills.
